As I continue on my Christmas short story reading, I came across this nine page read by Adrianne James. If there is one thing that Without You - A Christ Short Story has going for it, it would be the fact that it is definitely short. I wouldn't really classify this as a short story. It seems more like a chapter from a much larger book.The two main characters, Logan and Serenity, clearly have a history together according to the thoughts of Logan. This tale is written from his perspective and it starts out with him on a plane flying home to her. It doesn't take long to find out that he is a military man through and through, and Serenity...well she is not cut out to be a military man's wife. Yet, Logan still thinks he is right no matter how Serenity feels. During his travel back to her, however, he meets a few people that slowly helps him to stop and really assess his situation.
I believe that there is more to this then what was shared. Nine pages is really too short to get all the necessary details needed to make a story complete, even a short story. I had to go back and reread this a few times due to details that were not consistent. I feel Ms. James needs to go back, do a rewrite, and add more pages to this one.

Without You was a very short and sweet holiday read.
This very short story really shows the dedication that members of the military have for those special people in their lives. Love makes you not want to let those who are important to you down. It shows how a young solider does everything in his power to let his girlfriend know that he loves her.
This is a must read for anyone who has a loved one in the military.
I highly recommend this short story.
Without You is a super short read about a military man named Logan, who has always wanted to serve a full career as a soldier however the woman he loves wants him home. It’s a story about compromises and how some people are worth the change of plans. I knew going it in that it was super short, but I wouldn’t have minded reading more of this especially since I know their relationship is far from perfectly fixed. It’s a decent and quick read for the holiday season.
This short Christmas season story abruptly ended before it even began. The writing style was too minced and tentative, and overall it was flat.
For Serenity it was hard living life as a military wife, although she loved her husband more than life, she decided it would be best if they parted.
Raised in the military, logan felt it was the best way to provide for his wife and future family and it was what he wanted to do with his life. When his wife informs him that she can't deal with him being gone all the time, they split up. Will they reunite? Or will they go their separate ways?
Great beginning, but needed more closure. The ending was too abrupt and not enough information about the other man and what would happen next. After all, he's loaded down with Christmas gifts and there when she has only PJs on. I loved the beginning though. I know it's a short story, but it could've been a little longer and more fleshed out in that area and also with the character of Serenity. Just not deep enough. Too short. Needed more details. More action. More description. Only the man's feelings were really shown. Needed more between him and the woman since they were the main characters. Serenity and Logan need more time together on the page.
His is a well written tale. Logan had served his country as a marine for eight years. He enjoyed serving his country and looked forward to the benefits a service person that completed twenty years of service could get, an education and health benefits. But he was deeply in love with Serenity who was adamantly uninterested in being the wife of a military man. For five years they had fought about this one issue. Now gone for three months, he has returned for Christmas on an emergency leave. What will he say to Serenity? Can he save their relationship?
A solder, comes home for Christmas with the sole purpose of telling his ex just how much he loves her, but will she feel the same way? This is such a beautifully written short story that I wished it would have continued. I absolutely would read a longer version of this. I hadn’t heard of this author before, but with this story, I’m now a fan!! I will definitely be checking out what else is available. Thank you!
