Another great read by author Lani Lynn Vale! It was full of swoon, humor, intrigue, heartbreak and happiness. I liked it. A lot.

I have nothing but mad love for Nico and Georgia. Everything about them and their relationship felt so right, so natural... so real. I LOVED their shared history. The importance of family, their religious beliefs, their mutual love of soccer and their undeniable chemistry helped to build such a strong and everlasting foundation to their relationship. Nico and Georgia were dynamite (both in & out of the bedroom) and are easily one of my favorite Lani Lynn Vale couples!

Nico... Oh, good gods. Just the fact that he saved himself for Georgia... well, that automatically catapulted him into my Book Boyfriend Hall of Fame. The love he had for not only Georgia but his family and his team... *le sigh* His stamina, the way he took control and his protective nature was incredibly HOT. Heck, I found it panty-melting any time his voice rasped or his eyes flared or when he called Georgia beautiful. And their first time together... well, they both painted a sexy, intense and exciting picture (or maybe more along the lines of a sex tape) for me.

Georgia... She was such a fun and extremely likeable heroine! I really liked how comfortable she was in her own skin, how confident she was in her relationship with Nico and how she wasn't afraid to kick a bunch of grown men's butts out on the soccer field. I admired her strength when her and Nico were separated for a period of time (yea... that happens around the 75% mark) and totally loved her stubborn streak when trying to find out what really happened with Nico during a highly intense bust with him and his team. And the things that flew out of her mouth during a certain life-altering "event"... priceless.

The supporting cast of characters was once again wonderful. I love all of the distinctive personalities they bring to the table and am excited to hear more about them in the upcoming books!

I wasn't a huge fan of some of the little time jumps in the story, the ones that started around that aforementioned 75% mark. I got a bit confused in spots, when it would say three hours later or a certain number of days later because I felt like I missed something that had just happened, so I'd go back to re-read that scene one more time. Not super-distracting but I like details, which you don't necessarily get when time jumps take place.

Very much looking forward to reading Downy's book, Bang Switch, next! Bring on the sexy, sweet, red headed alpha Hero!!

Nico Pena grew up the eldest of 6 children and the only son in a Catholic-Latino home and grew up with a good home & family life, working on the family farm/ranch. He was exceptionally talented at soccer and could have gotten a scholarship and gone pro. Instead, he enlisted in the Navy and went on to become a Navy Seal, where he served a couple deployments. When he returned to the Kilgore, Texas area he joined the Kilgore Police Department and then later was recruited to become a team member on the SWAT team.

Georgia Valentine grew up on a farm/ranch that abutted to the Pena ranch. But the home and family environment was on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to how Nico grew up. Her father was an abusive drunk not only to his wife, but also to Georgia. She was also a soccer star, working to get a scholarship for college and away from her father. But one horrible night changed her entire life. When I learned what that event was, my heart cried out for her and her siblings and the loss of their innocence.

Throughout the years, Nico wants to go to Georgia to not only bring her home but to bring her back to him. But he doesn’t, simply because he knows that it has to be her choice to come back and it has to be on her time, when she was ready. Eventually that time does come. Their life experiences and the years that have gone by have changed them as people. However their connection is just as strong as it ever was and it’s almost as though the last 8 years have done nothing to dim their feelings for one another.

But there is trouble on the horizon that fundamentally changes their lives for quite some time. I really do love the KDP SWAT men and am looking forward to all of their stories and Downy, our favorite red-head is up next!
Read...Re-read...Re-read Again...This is my favorite Lani Lynn Vale book and definitely one of the best books that I've read this year.

This was such a great story. Was it all sunshine and rainbows? No. It was sad and heartbreaking. Nico and Georgia both experienced unimaginable things in their pasts that had shaped who both characters were today.

"They say I have a mild case of PTSD. One that doesn't really make itself known until it's the dark of night." Georgia to Nico

"We can compare notes on PTSD. 'Cause, in all honesty, I have enough PTSD to share with just about everyone in the Kilgore area and still have some to spare." Nico to Georgia

"I'm not the same girl, Diablo."

"I'm not the same man, niña."

Oh, I just wanted to hug these two. lol

I fell hard for Nico and Georgia right from the beginning. Their relationship drew me in. I LOVED how they loved each other. Without trying to sound too cheesy, they really did complete each other. There was no one else for either of them. *sigh*

So happy to see some of my favorite characters ~ cannot wait for Downy's book next!!! I also was so interested in Georgia's brothers and am crossing my fingers that each of them may get their own books.

I couldn't leave without saying that Nico was SEXY AS HELL and him and Georgia together fogged up my Fire. lol ;) Oh...that epilogue...so sweet. Lani is one of a very few authors that writes an amazing epilogue.

Thanks Lani for writing such a great story and letting me return to visit with these characters that I have grown to love so much.
