Deity The Third Covenant Novel Jennifer L Armentrout Books
The GoodI read this in one sitting. Then I came to that ending! UGH Armentrout has a knack of tearing you up with an ending and have you salivating for the next book. I'm going to take a bit of a break on this series though after this one and finish the rest later.
So much happens. I'm loving the mythology that runs rampant through the story and how that aspect is so different from what I've read before. I just love these characters as well. I think it's great that Alex has a hard time really trusting anyone and it makes me suspicious of EVERYONE while reading. Even characters she may not be.
While I did call one of the surprises, I was still surprised by other twists that took place. Just about everyone should have at least one shock, even those that are excellent at predicting what could come. The story is rocketing into new territory by the end of this one. Deity is definitely a book that turns the series on its head.
The Bad
Alex goes through so much in Deity, but her choices have a way of landing her in a bunch of trouble. While I love her, that's definitely an area of her character that I hope to enjoy seeing more growth in through future books.
The Romance
Alex does have two guys vying for her attention, but the truth is I've only felt that one is a viable option. I really liked where this one went in terms of romance. It really moved things along on that front.
Conclusion
Deity is full of twists and surprises. Some you may see coming, but I bet you won't be able to guess them all. There is a good amount of action and intensity. There are truths revealed and some great depths into the characters with more background information revealed. Alex does have a habit of making some wrong choices, and I do hope to see that part of her character grow in the future. The ending is one that will have you yelling at Armentrout for a bit. Recommended.

Deity The Third Covenant Novel Jennifer L Armentrout Books Reviews
This series, thus far, is amazing and I have yet to be let down by Armentrout! I am not a romantic but do appreciate a little love sprinkled in from time to time. That is exactly what you get with this book. In between the action and typical young adult chat, there's a little romance. If you have ever been fascinated with ESP and the possibilities of people having super powers (w/o the typical comic superhero jargon) then I suggest you try the Covenant Series. Another series of hers that is phenomenal is the Lux or Luxen Series! AND if you are a lover of romance & physical romantic encounters, try her books under her pen name J.Lynn. This series deals specifically with the idea of all the Greek Gods being real, alive, & well among us-along with several half-blood children (those with 1 human parent & 1 God parent). The main character, Alexandria, turns out to be an atypical half-blood with quite the impressive list lot special skills.
One EPIC ending after the next!!! After the heart pounding, non stop, ending to Pure, Seth and Alex make it back to the North Carolina Covenant in one piece while the rest of the group stays behind to help clean up the pieces. Holy cow this series goes from one epic scene to the next, making it impossible to stop reading. Again, I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
Diety might be my favorite book out of the series though because this is where you really get to see the walls Aiden built up around his feeling for Alex finally break, and oh do they break!! Jennifer L. Armentrout has written such an amazing series where I feel emotionally invested into each and every character's story. Constantly at the edge of my seat holding on for the ride. Seth, on the other hand, takes a turn for the worst towards the end making some irreparable choices and causing a tidal wave of repercussions on the whole world. Leaving Alex and the rest of her friends running to get as much distance as possible between her and Seth before her awakening. What will happen next in Elixir??
My first reaction after finishing Deity What the hell just happened?
I've never read a book that screwed with my emotions as much as Deity.
I don't even know where to begin without spoiling anything, because there is so much that happens in Deity. So. Much.
Earlier on in the series we learn about Alex being the second Apollyon. In PURE, we learn that she is considered a threat and that the Furies want her dead.Well, I thought shiznit (trying to keep it PG here) went down in Pure...but I was wrong. Deity takes it to a whole other level.
Deity is built upon secrets. Everyone has one - some of which can be harmful to others. Alex has grown a lot since the beginning of the series. She's always been a tough heroine, but she's finally beginning to see that knee-jerk reactions can be problematic.
She's killed her mother. She's lost her best friend. And she has found out that she is the second Apollyon; and that by fate, she is destined to be one with Seth. Enough for any teenager to have to deal with, right? Nope. Alex's life gets turned upside down in Deity. She's running off of hope that she can stop the First from becoming the God Killer. But hope isn't enough.
Honestly, this is a hard book to review because I really can't justify spoiling the story. No matter how much I may want to talk about all the feelings I have right now. My Aiden fangirl is happy, or she was happy until, you know...but my Seth fangirl? My heart is hurting.
As someone who isn't really a fan of love triangles (something I've stated before), I found myself worried when I started Pure last year. But then when I finished Pure, and saw where Armentrout was taking the story, I found that I didn't mind the love triangle. In fact, going into Deity, I was actually a fan of both boys. But then my Seth fangirl died out about halfway in - it's hard not to like Seth, until you reach the mid point in Deity. That is all I'm saying on that one. That. Is. All.
Deity made me want to throw my book across the room numerous times, and to me, that just shows how great Armentrout is at her craft. Because when a reader is that invested in characters from a book, the author has clearly done something right.
Oh, and that ending? I need the next book pronto!
