Star Champion a scifi romance Star Series Book 4 eBook Susan Grant
My favorite genre author has written another story in my favorite sci-fi romance series! It's like Christmas!! Reading Champion Baresh to me is like if I found out C.S. Lewis had a long lost book for the Chronicles of Narnia that fits in between book 3 and 4!!!! I adore this world that Grant has created. This one could easily be a stand alone book, but it's so much richer because I know the characters and enjoy reading and rereading their stories.Synopsis: On a mining colony, a dirt poor mid-20s girl in desperation disguises herself as a male and fights in a street version of a galactic wide blindfolded martial arts contest called Baresh. She's a champion through and through. Her father taught her since she was practically in diapers, so she soon wins every match she faces. She catches the eye of a Royal who is casting about for a way to re-claim his peers esteem. The Royal is a team owner and he recruits Jemm believing her to be a male player of unparalleled talent. You can imagine the rest of the story, it is a romance after all.
Opinion: This is a lovely romance! It's a wonderful sci-fi novel! No magic garbage to clutter up a beautiful story. Susan Grant is a masterful story teller and is one of the most talented writers ever. One of my favorite scenes was when the Royal took Jemm out flying. He showed her a field where the flowers all resembled flutes and played a beautiful wild music over the secluded glade.
I really recommend you read the Star King, then the Star Prince and the Star Princess. They are wonderful books that are part of this story. As a matter of fact, the first romance novel I ever read was the Star King. I'm quite glad that I embarked into the genre with such a perfect book. This book is almost as good, and as I said, it's like Christmas morning when I got something I really wanted but didn't know I wanted it. That's what reading this book was to me. I hope she writes more and more!

Star Champion a scifi romance Star Series Book 4 eBook Susan Grant Reviews
The Champion of Baresh by Susan Grant, is another entertaining, creative novel to add to your list of interesting Scifi/romance novels. At its core, the story is of love and honor of family, the discovery of sensual love, gender bias, and a love of a sport that ties all walks of life together. The story provides beautiful descriptiveness and depth to the sport, Bahja, and the developing attraction and intersecting goals between Jemm and Klark.
I liked the light reference to Earth worked into the story. Earth, and it's place in this world, was woven in seamlessly with sufficient context to appreciate but it wasn't central to the storyline. My poor memory would have welcomed just a bit more on backstory of Klark's previous transgression from Star Series, as its been 3 years since I've read the series-reminding me to do so again as I loved that series. I was happy to see Susan building on these worlds and various families in this new series. I am actually excited about rereading the Star series again, something I rarely take the time to do because my unread reading list is long.
Highly recommend the Star Series and my personal favorites, Legend of Banzai Maguire (2176 Book #1) & Empress Scarlet by Susan Grant.
I haven't read a book by Susan that I didn't absolutely enjoy. Her books are consistently well-written, descriptive and thoughtful. There are sensual scenes but they are generally far from the graphic (often vulgar) content found in many books in the genre that lack any meaningful substance. A few minor proofreading errors that were easily overlooked.
This one ticked all the boxes...
Tick box 1 Science fiction, tick box 2 Great characters, tick box 3 Hot factor, tick box 4 length of book, I could keep doing this all night, but I won't.
I have only read a couple of Susan's books prior to this one, but not for some time and the closest thing I can say about this story, may even have to throw in awesome as well. Jemm our lead female is about to put the entire Star Worlds on its ear and Klark is there to help her even before her secret caused waves. Change can take a long time to take effect or it can only take 2 special people to start the ball rolling. Now that I know what I've been missing out on, it's time to make happy and my bank account not so happy, as I have a new author with several books that I just have to read. I really look forward to seeing the next book in this series soon (hopefully).
